Postdoctoral Research Associate
in the field of Chemistry Education

The position is limited according to § 2 WissZeitVG and § 65 HessHG with the opportunity for individual academic qualification at the Professorship for Chemistry Education, Institute for Chemistry Education in Department Biology and Chemistry in theworkgroup of Prof. Dr. Nicole Graulich. The salary is in accordance with the collective labour agreement of the State of Hessen (E 13 TV-H).

Provided the maximum permissible duration of temporary employment is not exceeded, you will typically be employed for an initial period of 3 years. An extension for up to an additional 3 years is possible under the aforementioned conditions.

Your tasks at a glance

• The employment takes place to promote the own scientific qualification for the deepening of subject-didactic research methods and competences in the field of empirical educational research and professionalization of teacher trainingTeaching duties in accordance with the teaching obligation regulation of the State of Hesse
• Independent research work in organic chemistry education at the higher education level
• Acquisition of third-party funded projects
• Familiarization with technology-based methods of educational research, such as virtual reality, machine learning, or eye-tracking
• Detailed documentation of research results in reports and publications
• Supervision and training of young scientists
• Participation in and supervision of doctoral students in ongoing projects at the Institute of Chemistry Education

Your qualifications and competences

• Completed academic university degree in teaching at secondary schools with a major in Chemistry (1st State Examination), Master of Education in Chemistry or a comparable degree with teaching qualification for secondary education.
• Doctorate or PhD in chemistry education
• Publications in international peer-reviewed journals in science or chemistry education
• Extensive knowledge of methods for designing, observing, and analyzing teaching and learning situations (quantitative/qualitative methods) in chemistry education
• Fluent in the English language
• Experience in supervising undergraduate or graduate chemistry education seminars, school-related laboratory and teaching experience in schools is desirable
