At the Institute of Pharmacy, Working Group Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, which belongs to the University of Greifswald’s Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, there is a job vacancy, subject to the allocation of funds, expected to be available from 01 October 2025, for a full-time position (100%) as Postdoctoral Research Associate.

The position is limited until 30 June 2029. Payment will be made in accordance with pay group 13 TV-L Wissenschaft. The position is suitable for part-time employment.

We are seeking highly motivated candidates for the newly established Collaborative Research Centre “CONCENTRATE”, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). CONCENTRATE combines expertise from several institutions to study microbial processes in the ocean, focusing on interactions between algae, bacteria, fungi, and their glycans and proteins, at an atomic level. This research aims to enhance understanding of carbon fluxes in the oceans.

You will support the strategic activities within the CRC, including organizing meetings, workshops, and conferences, supervising young scientists, and managing administrative tasks, including financial administration and communication with the DFG. The role offers the opportunity to qualify academically, with tasks conducive to a doctorate.

Responsibilities include:

• Administrative support for coordinators
• Organization of project meetings, workshops, and conferences

• Support for early career researchers and staff
• Coordination of joint experiments and supervision of guest scientists
• Promotion of early career development, gender equality, and public relations
• Supporting scientific publication processes and communication with the DFG

Required qualifications:

• M.Sc. and doctoral degree in biology, biochemistry, pharmacy, or related discipline by employment start date
• Research experience related to CONCENTRATE’s focus areas
• Experience with microbiology, biochemistry, or marine ecology approaches
• Knowledge of project and data management
• Strong motivation for marine microbiology and biochemistry research
• Ability to work independently and in team settings
