Job Description:

Your role

  • Take a lead on your project and develop innovative solutions to complex scientific problems.
  • Design and execute experiments in vitro and/or in vivo, such as using iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes and cardiac organoids.
  • Develop and perform pooled functional genomic screens in complex disease model systems and characterize hits from those screens in vitro and in vivo.
  • Generate single-cell and spatial omics datasets across modalities to gain insights into disease and drug mechanisms.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with academic and industry collaborators.
  • Collaborate closely with computational experts, genomics technology experts, and leverage the capacities of EMBL core facilities.
  • Present your work internally and at international conferences.

Qualifications
  • PhD in biological sciences
  • Extensive hands-on experience and proven track record in cellular, biochemical, and cell biological assays.
  • Experience in at least one of these fields: Genome editing tools, single-cell technologies, iPSC-model systems.
  • Ability to lead projects, plan ahead, be well organized, and use resources efficiently.
  • Excellent English communication and writing skills.
Additional skills (optional)
  • Experience in data analysis (R, Python, command line)
  • Experience with drug modalities (e.g., base editors, RNAi), delivery tools (e.g., AAVs, lipids, antibodies), drug uptake, and intracellular trafficking mechanisms.
