The Munschauer Lab at the Centre for Integrative Infectious Disease Research (CIID) is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral scientist to carry out a collaborative research project at the intersection of computational biology and systems virology. Our laboratory takes a systems biology-inspired approach and combines cutting-edge technologies from the area of mass spectrometry and genomics, together with bioinformatics to understand the molecular interactions between RNA viruses and their hosts.

The project is centered on the integration and analysis of multiomics datasets utilizing advanced machine learning approaches and biological network analysis. The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary and international team of computational and experimental scientists, gaining unique opportunities to develop novel computational tools and pipelines for the analysis and integration of genomic, transcriptomic and proteomic data.

Your tasks
  • Implement advanced machine learning and data integration approaches
  • Analyze and interpret single-cell and multiomics high-thoughput sequencing data
  • Collaborate with leading wet lab scientists and bioinformaticians at the national and international level
Your profile
  • PhD or equivalent qualification in computational biology, bioinformatics, or a related field in the computational or natural sciences
  • Sound knowledge in machine learning algorithms, statistical methodologies, and biological network analysis
  • Experience with the analysis and integration of transcriptomic and multiomics data (bulk and single-cell)
  • Proficiency in relevant programming languages (e.g. Python, R, etc.), HPC environments (e.g. Slurm), and workflow management systems (e.g. Snakemake)
  • To work accurately and being able to conduct independent research, but also enjoying to work in an international and interdisciplinary environment
  • Strong written and spoken English language communication skills
We offer
