The Computational Health Center (CHC) at Helmholtz Munich develops novel computational tools powered by AI to accelerate discovery and translation in human health and disease.
The CHC has 9 open positions in its postdoctoral program. The program offers a rare opportunity to conduct cutting-edge research at the intersection of machine learning and health sciences, with unique access to experimental and clinical data. Embedded in Munich’s thriving AI landscape, fellows benefit from world-class facilities, interdisciplinary collaboration, career development events, networking initiatives, industry placements, and research stays.
Your tasks
Candidates are expected to conduct independent and collaborative research, contribute to publications and grant writing, and support the supervision of students and junior researchers in one the following research areas:
- Computational oncology
- AI drug discovery
- Statistical genetics, single-cell genomics, virtual cell models
- Graph-based neural networks, optimal transport
- Agentic systems, large language models
- Generative AI, probabilistic models
- Representation learning, self-supervised learning, foundation models
- Data analysis, non-linear statistics, knowledge management
Your profile
- PhD in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Applied Mathematics or related field
- Interest in interdisciplinary research
- Applied experience with machine/deep learning methods
- Ability to handle multiple projects in a dynamic environment
- Strong interest in medical and/or biological questions
If you fulfill all the requirements, you may be eligible for a salary grade of up to E 13. Social benefits are based on the Collective Wage Agreement for Public-Sector Employees (TVöD). The positions are for a fixed term of 2 years.
