1 Postdoc Position in Molecular Biology/Biochemistry (full-time, Salary Scale E 13 TV-L)

The start date is July 2025 or later. The position is initially available for 3 years. The working language is German and English.

The University of Konstanz is one of eleven Universities of Excellence in Germany. Since 2007, it has been successful in the German Excellence Initiative and its follow-up programme, the Excellence Strategy.

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoc candidate holding a PhD in Biological Sciences or Life Sciences (e.g., Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or Biochemistry) interested in conducting cutting-edge research at the Department of Biology at the University of Konstanz, Germany. The research focuses on proteotoxic stress related to human neurodegenerative diseases such as Huntington's, Alzheimer's, or Parkinson's, using Caenorhabditis elegans as an animal model system.

As part of the Deuerling group, you will join a team recognized internationally for its pioneering contributions and expertise in proteostasis research.

Your Responsibilities

1. Identification and characterization of molecular chaperones using C. elegans as an animal model.
2. Contributing to publications, presentations, and funding proposals of the lab.
3. Supervision of Bachelor’s and Master’s students.

Your Competencies

1. A PhD in Life Sciences, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Genetics, or Biochemistry.
2. Excellent skills and hands-on experience in protein biochemistry.
3. Good knowledge of protein biogenesis, folding, and misfolding in cells.
4. Ability to work independently and in a team.
5. Fluent knowledge of English; German skills or willingness to learn German are desirable.
