At the Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry, basic scientists and clinicians work closely to understand the causes of complex brain diseases, aiming to develop new prevention and treatment strategies. The institute combines neurobiological research, clinical studies, molecular genetics, and computational approaches to translate research into patient benefits.
The clinic, located in Schwabing, Munich, includes psychiatric wards, day clinics, and serves around 2,000 patients annually. The Research Group “Statistical Genetics,” led by Bertram Müller-Myhsok, is seeking a motivated Postdoc (m/f/d) in “Artificial intelligence and software development for behavioural quantification” starting 01.04.2024.
The successful candidate will collaborate with the “Stress Resilience” research group led by Dr. Mathias Schmidt. The role focuses on quantifying behavioral traits using advanced AI techniques, including deep learning algorithms for markerless motion tracking with tools like DeepLabCut and SLEAP. The candidate will maintain and develop the DeepOF Python package, develop new algorithms for motion embedding, extend software capabilities to new animals, and integrate multimodal data.
