Job description: PostDoc in "Geopolitical dilemmas for management: transfer of governance for the Southern Ocean" (m/f/d) (HIPP26 #1)
This position involves researching the governance challenges of the Southern Ocean, a region critical for climate regulation and biodiversity, currently governed by international treaties amidst increasing geopolitical and environmental pressures. The candidate will undertake independent projects on the political and social science aspects of marine governance, focusing on the transfer of management and policy mechanisms, in collaboration with the Southern Ocean Conservation and Governance Group and the Transfer Office of HIFMB.
Key responsibilities include analyzing the geopolitical history influencing policy, assessing existing governance mechanisms, exploring alternative management strategies, and investigating effective science transfer mechanisms. The role emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration, policy analysis, and contribution to sustainable management practices in the context of changing environmental and geopolitical conditions.
The position offers membership in the HIPP cohort, engagement with the broader HIFMB community, and opportunities to foster external partnerships. Experience or interest in transfer activities and interdisciplinary research is advantageous.
