LocationHamburg, Germany## About This RoleVAERING is a single-family office focused on equity investments in companies that make a clearly identifiable contribution to sustainable economic development, taking an active role as majority or minority shareholder in businesses spanning sustainable mobility, resource-efficient industry, resilient infrastructure and sustainable energy supply. Based in the heart of Hamburg, VAERING's six-person team is hiring for the newly created role of Portfolio Partner.As Portfolio Partner, the successful candidate will be responsible for the value-oriented management and oversight of part of VAERING's investment portfolio. The focus is not on deal origination or execution but on active governance: serving on advisory boards and as shareholder representative, driving strategic development including possible M&A options, actively supporting management teams, overseeing regulatory and financial controls, and reporting to VAERING's shareholder group.Core responsibilities span portfolio management - taking responsible leadership of 2-3 portfolio companies including their administration and oversight, serving on advisory boards vis-à-vis co-shareholders, management and employees, overseeing governance structures through shareholder agreements, rules of procedure and reporting cycles, ensuring compliance, risk management and internal controls, and actively supporting management teams through goal-setting, incentives and performance reviews; strategic company development - maintaining ongoing dialogue with management on strategy, continuously reviewing company strategy against market developments, and safeguarding shareholder interests and governance during financing rounds or share sales; planning and reporting - ensuring financial, strategic and operational reports and plans for each portfolio company, including variance and risk analysis; and portfolio-company projects - supporting management on strategic initiatives and identifying and assessing M&A opportunities within defined growth plans.Candidates should hold a completed degree in business, natural sciences or engineering (ideally combined with an MBA), and bring 15+ years of relevant experience in investment/portfolio management at an industrial holding, a private equity firm or a family office.
