A technology company in Germany is seeking a Platform Engineer to scale their Kubernetes-based AWS infrastructure. You will work with the CTO and engineering leadership to architect and automate cloud resources. Responsibilities include building CI/CD pipelines, managing Postgres data, and ensuring compliance with security standards. Ideal candidates have a strong background in Kubernetes, AWS, and DevSecOps practices.
As the first dedicated Platform Engineer, you will work directly with the CTO to scale our Kubernetes‑based AWS infrastructure and edge runtime Cloudflare infrastructure. You will collaborate with engineering leadership to architect, automate, and observe everything from Cloudflare Workers at the edge to modern Container deployments in highly secure clusters. Your work will accelerate DevX for our Product Engineers and ensure compliance posture and customer trust. We expect you to view building a great Platform as a means to an end to accelerate growth for the Product and for Customers, not an end in itself.
What you'll do:
Architect and ship Cloudflare Workers written in TypeScript for real-time data ingestion, API routing, and zero-trust security at the edge
Operate and scale Kubernetes on EKS by designing, hardening, and expanding our multi-cluster AWS environment for high-throughput AI and data workloads
Work with modern PaaS tools and open-source versions for self-hosting when necessary
Leverage modern minimal-container toolchains and secure build pipelines to ensure provenance, reduce surface area, and meet compliance requirements
Build reusable CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Helm, and more that deliver both code and infrastructure safely and repeatably
Integrate and manage our Postgres data layer for storage, row-level security, and authentication workflows
Instrument systems with Prometheus, Loki, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, and Tempo to achieve 99.99 percent uptime and clear SLOs
Champion DevSecOps best practices, including automated vulnerability scanning, secret management, and contribute to FedRAMP and NIST readiness
Partner with the broader engineering team and product to plan capacity, refine SLAs, and accelerate DevX (Developer Experience) for our product engineers
