Scientific / postdoctoral posts

Part-Time Suitability:

The position is suitable for part-time employment.

Starting Date:

23.06.2025

Job Description:
  • The focus of your research will be the characterization of Metallic Magnetic Calorimeters (MMCs) and other quantum sensors in external magnetic fields (up to 50 mT).
  • You will independently design experimental setups for a 10 mK dilution refrigerator, perform measurements, and analyze the resulting data.
  • You will model detector performance (timing and energy resolution), compare simulations with experimental data, and extrapolate the sensitivity to the neutrino mass in the context of a potential quantum sensor array using a tritium source like at KATRIN.
  • Participation in teaching and outreach activities is expected.

There is the possibility of pursuing a doctorate in addition to academic work.

This research center is part of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers. With more than 42,000 employees and an annual budget of over €5 billion, the Helmholtz Association is Germany's largest scientific organization.
