The Weierstrass Institute for Applied Analysis and Stochastics (WIAS) is an institute of the Forschungsverbund Berlin e.V. (FVB). The FVB comprises seven non-university research institutes in Berlin which are funded by the federal and state governments. The research institutes belong to the Leibniz Association.

Field of work:

• Optimization or inverse problems with partial differential equations with specialization in
  • Artificial intelligence and machine learning
  • Nonsmooth components
  • Uncertainties or stochastic influences

Responsibilities:

The position is dedicated to the analysis of these problems as well as the design and implementation of efficient algorithms for their solution.

Qualifications:

• Highly motivated, outstanding student with a master’s degree in mathematics.
• Strong background in mathematical optimization.
• Good experience with theory and numerical methods for partial differential equations.
