Jobbeschreibung

PhD student (m/w/d) Pediatric Cardiology

Start in our Team

The University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein (UKSH), and the Department of Pediatric Cardiology, offer a PhD position in the research group of Prof. Dr. Daniela Panáková for the project P8“Elucidating the Prickle-dependent and independent protein-protein interactions of the membrane protein Vangl2 in myoblasts and in developing heart muscle cells”within the DFG-funded Research Training Group “Regulation of Membrane Proteins” starting on 01. October 2025 with 4 years fixed-term.

Within the RTG-ReMPro(www.rtg-rempro.de), we aim to understand how posttranslational modifications (PTMs) influence the plasticity of membrane proteins for the regulation of cells, specialized tissues and body homeostasis. Dysregulation of membrane proteins can lead to pathological conditions. Our vision is that the RTG-ReMPro will lead to a better understanding of the diverse modifications of membrane proteins, by analyzing posttranslational events that regulate the function of receptors, proteases, channels, transporters, and adhesion molecules. The proposed work program of the RTG-ReMPro is ideally suited for the training of doctoral students from natural sciences and medicine.

What we provide:

  • Salary and benefits according to a public service position in Germany with 4 years fixed-term (TV-L, E 13, 65%)
  • Subsidy to job ticket of NAH.SH
  • Many attractive employee’s discounts
  • You can find more exciting UKSH benefits here: Benefits (uksh.de)
  • Interdisciplinary field and interactive laboratory atmosphere
  • Intensive mentorship, supervision and a defined project with medical relevance
  • Modern research methods: animal models, cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, electrophysiology, histology, multi-omics, CRISPR/Cas9 and many more
  • Soft skill courses, international meetings, regular progress reports and retreats

What you bring:

  • Completed Master’s degree with very good grades in a biological or medical discipline
  • Research experience with methods relevant for the project, specifically, knowledge of biochemistry relevant methods including immunoprecipitations is an asset
  • High motivation, very good organizational and communication skills in English
  • The applicant should be familiar with molecular biology and other common laboratory techniques. Knowledge of cardiac biology and zebrafish model is an asset

Please submit your application (motivation letter (1-2 pages), CV (use this form: www.dfg.de/de/formulare-53-200-elan-246806 ), a brief description of your previous research activities, 2 reference addresses with the required documents in a single PDF file until 26.06.2025 quoting the tender number 26516.
