Offer Description

About us

We investigate the molecular machines that organise intracellular membrane traffic and how pathogens hijack them. Using cryo-ET, cryo-FIB milling, cryo-CLEM, and image processing, we resolve native and reconstituted complexes in cells and in vitro, for example, PMIDs 33762348, 30224749, 32743075, 40234461.

Project

You will dissect membrane trafficking complexes by combining wet-lab techniques (protein biochemistry, cell biology, cryo-ET sample preparation and data acquisition) with computational methods (tomogram segmentation, subtomogram averaging, scripting, model building). Our in-house toolkit includes an Aquilos 2 cryo-FIB, confocal cryo-CLEM, a Glacios (200 keV) and a Titan Krios (300 keV), and a dedicated computer cluster.

Requirements

  • M.Sc. in molecular biology, biochemistry or related field (≥ 6-month thesis)
  • Proven experience in protein biochemistry, cell biology or similar wet-lab techniques; cryo-EM and programming skills are an advantage
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English; excellent communication and teamwork
  • Ability to drive your project independently

Offer

  • Fully funded initial 3-year employment contract (TVöD salary and benefits) starting Oct–Nov 2025

Send one PDF named Firstname_Lastname_24-25.pdf (cover letter, CV, diploma transcripts, and contact details of ≥ 2 academic referees) until 25 August 2025.
