Zusammenfassung

Universitätsklinikum Köln sucht eine/n Doktorand/in (PhD) zur Mitarbeit in einem vollständig geförderten Grundlagen-/translationalen Projekt zuonkologen Mechanismen im chronischen Lymphozytären Leukämie-Umfeld. Die Stelle ist eingebettet in das CRC 1530 und wird von zwei PIs betreut.

Arbeiten erfolgen am CECAD Research Center mit modernsten Technologien. TV-L EG 13, 38,5 Std./Woche, befristet bis 31.12.2029 gemäß WissZeitVG.

Qualifikationen

• Abgeschlossenes Hochschulstudium (M.Sc. oder äquivalent) in Biologie, Mikrobiologie, Biotechnologie oder verwandtem Bereich.
• Grundlegende Computerkenntnisse wünschenswert.
• Vorerfahrung in molekular- und zellbiologischen Techniken; Tiermodell-Erfahrung wünschenswert.
• Fundiertes Verständnis von Immunologie und molekularen Mechanismen in der Onkologie.
• Gute Englischkenntnisse.
• Motivation, Neugier und Teamfähigkeit in interdisziplinären Projekten.

Aufgaben

• Durchführung zellbiologischer, molekulargenetischer und immunologischer Methoden an Proben sowie präklinischen Modellen.
• Datenvisualisierung und Kommunikation einschließlich mündlicher Präsentationen.
• Enge Zusammenarbeit mit medizinischen und computergestützten Kollaborateuren.

Your tasks

• Performance of cell biological, molecular genetics
  and immunological methods in primary samples, preclinical in vitro and murine in vivo models
• Data visualization and communication including oral presentations
• Close collaboration with medical and computational
  collaborators

Your profile

• A completed university degree (M.Sc. or equivalent)
  in Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or a related field
• Basic computational skills are desirable
• Previous training and hands-on experience in molecular and cellular biology techniques; experience with animal experimentation is desirable
• A solid understanding of immunology and the molecular mechanisms underlying oncology
• Proficiency in English
• A high level of motivation, genuine curiosity, and

Your future in detail

We are looking for a PhD for a fully-funded (DFG)
basic/translational science project on the molecular and
cellular mechanisms of the microenvironment in chronic
lymphocytic leukemia. This project is embedded into the
collaborative research center (CRC) 1530 - "Elucidation and targeting of pathogenic mechanisms in B cell malignancies" and will be co‑mentored by Dr. Laura Beckmann and Prof. Michael Hallek. As a part of this interdisciplinary research consortium, we will utilize primary patient CLL samples as well as pre-clinical in vitro and murine in vivo models to interfere with the lymphoma supportive microenvironmental niche by perturbing
microenvironmental signaling within the microenvironment and CLL cells. This PhD project focuses on investigating the role of the tumor microenvironment in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). The research
combines molecular and cellular biology approaches with in vivo murine models, novel spatial technologies, and clinical correlatives to elucidate the mechanisms governing CLL progression. The project is jointly supervised by two principal investigators with complementary expertise in basic and translational lymphoma research. The laboratory is based at the CECAD Research Center on the Medical
Campus of the University of Cologne, providing a collaborative and interdisciplinary research environment with access to state-of-the-art technologies.
