TV-L: 38,5 h/week (100%)

limited for 3 years according to WissZeitVGwithin the framework of a third-party funded project

Your salary will be based on TV-L

We are looking for a talented and motivated Bioinformatician/Computational Biologist/Computer Scientist with a strong interest in genomics and biology of pediatric cancer. The candidate will be involved in the analysis and interpretation of large-scale next-generation sequencing datasets from pediatric tumor samples. In addition, the candidate will contribute to the development and implementation of computational workflows and analysis pipelines for high-throughput genomic data and participate in the integration of different molecular data types. Particular emphasis will be placed on the analysis of single cell sequencing data and spatially resolved transcriptomics data to investigate tumor heterogeneity and tumor microenvironment interactions in neuroblastoma and related pediatric malignancies. Beyond computational analyses, the candidate will contribute to data interpretation, visualization, and the development of novel analytical concepts for the study of complex cancer genomic datasets. The position includes close collaboration with experimental and clinical researchers and will involve close interaction with the Department of Translational Genomics.

Your profile

The position requires a university degree in a relevant field, such as bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, mathematics, physics, or a related discipline. Preferably, applicants hold an advanced degree (Master of Science or Ph.D.), although candidates with a Bachelor’s degree and substantial relevant research experience will also be considered. Applicants should have strong experience in the analysis of highthroughput sequencing data, particularly genomic and transcriptomic datasets. Solid programming and data analysis skills, preferably C++, R and/or Python, are expected, as well as experience working with large-scale biological data. A genuine interest in cancer biology and pediatric oncology research is essential. Experience with spatial transcriptomics or related spatial genomics technologies is highly desirable. Candidates should have good communication skills and be able to drive scientific projects with a high degree of independence.

Our offer

  • Everything but ordinary: You can expect a secure job in a challenging, innovative environment – including company pension schemes and regular working hours without business trips.
