The Helmholtz Institute for Metabolic, Obesity, and Vascular Research (HI-MAG) at the University of Leipzig seeks to understand adipose tissue dysfunction to enable precision therapies for obesity and related conditions.

The Jais lab researches neurocircuitries activated by energy-dense food using molecular and systems neuroscience to define neuron characteristics and their role in energy and metabolic regulation, aiming to develop new therapies for obesity and metabolic disorders.

Prof. Matthias Tschöp emphasizes the importance of diversity in research for better solutions and innovation, and Helmholtz Munich is committed to an inclusive and respectful culture.

Your Tasks

• Participate in research on neural control of metabolism and adipose tissue function
• Use techniques like chemogenetics, intracranial injections, and metabolic profiling in mouse models
• Analyze genetic and physiological data from animals and humans
• Work with an interdisciplinary team and contribute to publications
• Present findings at scientific meetings

Your Profile

• Master’s degree in a relevant field, with interest in neuroscience and obesity research
• Experience in molecular biology, animal models, or metabolic research
• Motivated to participate in a competitive research program
• Excellent English skills
