That’s where we help. At Overstory, we use AI and advanced satellite imagery to pinpoint and prioritize vegetation risks before they materialize. By giving utilities critical analysis on those risks, we’re helping prevent outages, reduce wildfire risks, and accelerate the transition to a safer, more resilient grid.

Our team spans the Americas and Europe, and we work with utility partners across the Americas and beyond. The role

As a People Operations Manager, you’ll ensure that all people operations for our team in North America run smoothly - from onboarding to offboarding and everything in between. You’re the beating heart of the People team, approachable and responsive to any questions from our Overstory team in your geography. You’ll be able to smoothly navigate local complexities while making the overall experience feel aligned with Overstory’s values. You’ll work hands-on delivering excellent day-to-day operations, guide managers with people-related questions, and drive improvements to help us scale effectively as we grow.

You’ll be part of a small but mighty People team, working closely with the Head of People. Together, we foster a culture where everyone can be their best selves. We value innovative thinking, simplicity, effectiveness, and a human-centric approach.

What you’ll do

You’ll own and run people operations for our North American team, which is spread across the United States and Canada:

  • Run onboarding for new team members from start to finish, making them feel welcomed and integrated from day one
  • Support managers and team members with questions on policies and processes
  • Draft offer letters and employment agreements
  • Ensure compliance with local labor laws
  • Create leadership reports with updates, metrics, and visuals
  • Coordinate recruitment efforts, from posting jobs to managing candidate pipelines and scheduling interviews, working closely with our technical recruiter
  • Manage smooth offboarding processes
  • Handle benefits and leave administration, including annual health benefits enrollment in the US
  • Collaborate on ad-hoc projects with the Head of People
About you
  • You have 5+ years of experience as an HR Generalist, HR Manager, or similar role
  • You are familiar with US labor laws
  • You have experience in early-stage startups and thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
  • You possess good judgment, balancing quality and speed, with a business mindset and human touch
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • You know how to leverage AI to improve efficiency
  • You’re passionate about our climate mission
  • You are based in the US, in the ET time zone

We are 72 people from 15 nationalities, working remotely across nine countries, including the US, Netherlands, UK, Ireland, Estonia, Portugal, France, Sweden, Denmark, and Canada. We gather once a year in person and occasionally meet for collaborative in-person sessions.
