Essential Job Functions

  • Reporting to the Regional Director of HR EMEA and, on a local level, to the country managers / managing directors, the payroll officer ensures company compliance, administration, and adherence to all applicable law regulations.
  • Maintains all employee and applicant documentation as dictated by governing agencies.
  • Ensures compliance with local employment laws in all aspects of Human Resources, including coordination and processing of the Monthly Payroll for NL.
  • Assesses payroll challenges, resolves complex payroll issues, and recommends improvements for more efficient and accurate payroll cycles.
  • Processes manual checks and investigates payroll discrepancies as necessary.
  • Reconciles payroll balance sheets, accumulators, YTD earnings, payroll taxes, and general ledgers.
  • Manages end-to-end payroll functions and workflows to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of the NL monthly payroll.
  • Maintains and processes all Unemployment Notices of Entitlement and potential charges promptly. Attends unemployment hearings when necessary.
  • Liaises with external Pension Consultants and outsourced Payroll Providers.
  • Acts as an employee relations specialist.
  • Monitors tardiness and absenteeism reports, ensuring proper documentation for employees with excessive tardiness or absenteeism. Reports vacation, sick, personal days, and holidays to Payroll and Benefits departments as required, maintaining and distributing related reports.
  • Maintains employee personnel files.
  • Handles wage garnishments and refunds.
  • Builds positive relationships and communicates effectively with internal clients, co-workers, stakeholders, and external vendors.
  • Conducts themselves professionally, representing the company in accordance with Crane’s Code of Conduct.
  • Serves as the first point of contact for HR and Payroll queries and concerns.
  • Proactively identifies and communicates employee issues affecting business objectives.
  • Participates in projects assigned by the Director of HR.
  • Performs recruitment activities, including developing advertisements, screening, conducting interviews, and maintaining records.
  • Supports employee visa processes as needed.
  • Assists with the rollout of Crane-wide HR programs such as Performance Management, Reward and Recognition, Wellness Initiatives, Crane Cares, Compliance Training, Annual Open Enrollment, Employee Satisfaction Surveys, and similar programs.
  • Facilitates problem-solving strategies to resolve employee relations issues through effective communication.
  • Monitors salary administration, analyzes salary increases, and reports any outside guidelines or wage and hour compliance issues.
  • Prepares data reports as requested.
  • Identifies, diagnoses, and resolves HR-related problems, utilizing appropriate resources.
  • Stays updated with current NL legislation related to HR and Payroll functions.
  • Continuously aims to enhance Crane’s image as an attractive place to work.
  • Serves as a business partner to management, supporting the development and implementation of HR plans aligned with business objectives.
  • Provides consultation to management and employees on HR policies and issues.
  • Assists in developing manpower objectives, staffing plans, and organizational development strategies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
