Job Purpose :

Lead the end-to-end design and R&D of next-generation ultra-large mining excavators, ensuring cutting-edge performance, reliability, and compliance with international standards (ISO, CE, etc.). Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Germany and China to deliver industry-leading solutions.

Key Responsibilities :

Product Design & Development :

  • Lead mechanical / hydraulic / structural design of ultra-large excavators (50+ tons), focusing on durability, energy efficiency, and automation readiness.
  • Optimize key systems (boom / structure, hydraulic circuits, powertrain) using CAD / CAE tools (e.g., ProE, ANSYS, AMESim).

Technical Leadership

  • Define R&D roadmaps for mining excavators, aligning with global market needs (e.g., electrification, autonomous operation).
  • Mentor junior engineers and coordinate Germany-China technical teams.

Testing & Validation

  • Oversee prototype testing (FEA, fatigue analysis, field trials) and ensure compliance with EU / China safety / emission regulations.
  • Troubleshoot design issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Liaise with European suppliers (e.g., Liebherr, Bosch Rexroth) for critical components.
  • Support manufacturing teams in Germany / China for design-to-production handover.
  • Drive patent applications and publish technical papers in mining equipment domains.

Qualifications & Skills

Essential Requirements :

  • Education : PhD / Master’s in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related fields.
  • Experience :
  • 10+ years in heavy mining equipment R&D (excavators, draglines).
  • Proven track record in ultra-large excavator (>
  • Technical Expertise :
  • Mastery of CAD (ProE / SolidWorks), CAE (ANSYS / ADAMS), and PLM systems.
  • Deep knowledge of hydraulic systems, structural dynamics, and fatigue analysis.
  • Language : Fluent English (working language); German or Mandarin is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience with EU / China certification processes (CE, GB standards).
  • Familiarity with autonomous mining technologies (e.g., GPS, LiDAR).
  • Willingness to work in Kunshan China.
