Overview

DeepEn develops minimally invasive microendoscopes for neuroscience applications. We turn a single multimode fiber into a hair-thin imaging device using holographic light control, bringing microscopy into deep brain regions. We are translating over a decade of research into a reliable tool to accelerate neuroscience researchers and advance future medical diagnostics.

We’re seeking an Optical Imaging Scientist to research and product development at the interface of photonics, software, instrumentation and neuroscience.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimise hair-thin fibre-optic imaging systems
• Develop hardware–software integration: device control, synchronisation, automation
• Implement and refine holographic algorithms and real-time image processing
• Prototype, test, and validate optical setups for in-vivo neuroscience applications
• Work closely with neuroscientists and engineers to translate technology into experiments

Qualifications

• PhD or strong background in physics, optics, astronomy, engineering, or related fields
• Proven experience with fibre optics, optoelectronics, or imaging instrumentation
• Strong programming skills: Python and/or C/C++ (experience other languages is welcome)
• Hands-on in the lab: from building optical setups to debugging hardware/software
• Problem-solver with a collaborative mindset; eager to apply technology in biology/neuroscience contexts
