White Plains Hospital Medical Center seeks a Nursing Technician to perform patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Duties include ADLs, vital signs, I&O, performing EKGs, documentation, simple dressing changes, specimen collection, and assisting with meals, transports and procedures.

Essential functions emphasize adherence to performance standards, infection control, teamwork, and readiness to participate in ongoing training. BLS is required within 6 months of hire.

Competenze

• BLS certification required upon hire or within 6 months.
• Prior hospital or patient care experience preferred.

Scheduled Hours: 6PM - 6AM

Hours Per Pay Period: 45

Pay Rate/Range: $25.00- $37.50

Job Summary

The Nursing Technician performs patient care and non-patient care functions within their scope of practice under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse. Duties include but are not limited to ADL’s, vital signs, I&O, performing EKGs, documentation of vital signs and I & O, simple dressing changes, specimen collection, assisting with meals, errands, transporting of patients, medications, or specimens, ambulating of patients, urinary drainage care (indwelling, external and suprapubic), assists with colostomy care, applies binders, weighs patients, assists health care providers with procedures and physical exams, and other duties as assigned.

• Participates in Performance Improvement Initiatives.
• Utilizes appropriate steps in the decision-making process to include recognition and priority setting related to patient care and unit-based issues.
• Collaborates and communicates with the health care team.
• Completes competency requirements.
• Attends mandatory in-services.
• Attends staff meetings as required/ requested.
• Utilizes cost containment practices.
• Adheres to all WPH policies and procedures including dress code, code of conduct, customer service, attendance, and submission of annual physical.
• Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Required or
• GED Required
• less than 1 year Previous experience in hospital or with patient care preferred Preferred
• Nursing Technicians that will be trained to read the monitors require the 4-day EKG class Required

• BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association Nursing Technicians must have their BLS upon hire or obtain within 6 months within 180 Days Required
