Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Purchasing Teams are responsible for obtaining materials, components, equipment, and services, gathering quotations, examining bids, and awarding contracts. They perform cost analysis and volume planning for commodities, evaluate vendor reliability, and develop new supply sources where required. They coordinate purchasing activities with manufacturing and engineering departments to maintain inventory at planned levels and monitor cost, schedule, and scope of assigned subcontracts to ensure the best quality at the best value. They also look for and recommend cost-saving proposals, including make vs. buy analysis, alternative sourcing, and vendor evaluation criteria, as well as develop specifications for new contract orders.

Job Description
  • Support customer quotations during project acquisition phases.
  • Participate in regular project meetings with other departments as a core team member for product lines with high impact, proactively influencing the cost structure with alternative production methods and suppliers.
  • Analyze the market and gather requirements for future projects.
  • Manage technical projects to drive tooling and customer projects from customer request to final location release.
  • Ensure project execution aligns with customer timing.
  • Contribute to product design reviews with VA/VE analysis to influence manufacturing decisions and propose alternative production methods.
  • Drive complex ad hoc queries and work autonomously on assigned projects.
  • Coordinate communication of changes between core team, commodities, supply chain, suppliers, engineering, quality, and competence centers.
  • Organize and lead risk assessments and supplier component reviews.
  • Negotiate quotations with significant impact to meet project targets.
  • Discuss offers with engineering and suppliers.
  • Present post RFQ in sourcing meetings and evaluate suppliers jointly in a competitive bid process for serial production, aiming to grow with preferred partners and consolidate the supply base globally.
  • Ensure proper handover of projects and tasks to commodity buyers.
  • Coordinate product line-related saving projects within procurement.
  • Identify and drive process improvements, updating or creating necessary documentation.
  • Initiate quotation requests to internal and external suppliers for project-specific investments, tools, assembly equipment, and purchased parts.
Requirements
  • Several years of experience in procurement and/or technical fields such as process engineering, product engineering, or tool manufacturing.
  • Experience with project management.
  • Extensive experience working with multicultural and cross-functional teams.
  • Fluency in English.
