Network Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer to oversee and manage our Cisco and Palo Alto-based network environments, including LAN, WAN, and Wireless networks. The successful candidate will collaborate with vendors, lead installation and expansion projects, and ensure optimal network performance and security.

1. Design, implement, and manage Cisco and Palo Alto network environments, ensuring seamless platform integration and performance optimization.
2. Lead installation and expansion of network systems for new facilities, including testing, troubleshooting, and documentation.
3. Develop procedures for network infrastructure installation, proposing strategies to maintain and improve service levels.
4. Monitor and analyze network performance, providing reports and corrective actions to enhance efficiency.
5. Provide rapid troubleshooting during emergencies and outages.
6. Address incidents reported via management tools, ensuring prompt resolution.
7. Regularly test and upgrade network device software to ensure system reliability.
8. Review capacity reports and identify opportunities for network improvements.
9. Advise on network migrations and security enhancements.
10. Coordinate with third-party vendors and telecom providers to resolve incidents.
11. Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations and changes.
12. Recommend improvements for network management tools and processes.
13. Analyze reporting data for accuracy before submission to management.
14. Stay informed on vendor product updates and technological advancements.

Skills and Experience

• Minimum 5 years of experience in networking, with expertise in Cisco, Fortinet, and Palo Alto technologies.
• Experience working in ITIL environments, with knowledge of Incident, Change, and Problem Management.
• Proven experience managing complex Cisco and Fortinet environments, including Routing & SD-WAN, Switching, Wireless, Firewalls, and network management tools.
• Expertise in routing protocols like OSPF, BGP, and VRRP.
• Hands-on experience with protocol analyzers such as Wireshark.
• Strong documentation skills using MS Word and MS Visio.
• Proficiency with Meraki Wireless, Firewalls, SD-WAN, Cisco ACI, and other enterprise products.
• Ability to interpret wireless site survey reports and optimize wireless networks.
• Relevant certifications such as Cisco CCNP/CCIE, Fortinet NSE 6+, F5, Meraki Certified, or equivalent.
• Fluency in German.
• Familiarity with ITIL V3 framework and best practices.
