We are seeking a highly skilled freelance Murex Expert to support a leading financial institution in managing and optimizing its Murex platform. The ideal candidate will act as a senior technical counterpart to the client’s internal team, bringing deep architectural knowledge, hands-on development skills, and the ability to translate technical decisions into business insights.
Role Responsibilities
- Serve as a senior technical counterpart to the client's internal Murex expert.
- Design, extend, and optimize the Murex solution architecture across functional and technical domains.
- Maintain and further develop Murex Datamart structures and reporting models.
- Configure and support MxML Exchange workflows for trade lifecycle, events, and static data.
- Build and maintain real-time and batch interfaces with internal and external systems.
- Configure backend services : job scheduling, database settings, environment parameters.
- Automate environment management and operational tasks via shell scripting (Unix / Linux).
- Contribute to CI / CD processes including test automation (MxTest) and deployment practices.
- Collaborate with infrastructure teams to ensure system stability and performance.
- Act as a bridge between technology and business – translate technical complexity into actionable insight.
- Engage comfortably with both technical teams and senior business stakeholders.
Required Skills and Qualifications
1. Murex Architecture & Platform Expertise
- Proven experience in designing and operating large-scale Murex environments
- Deep understanding of Murex components and deployment strategies
2. Murex Data & Reporting
- Strong experience with MX-Datamart configuration and reporting customization
- Proficiency with MX-Reports and M-Reports generation, formatting, and integration
- Familiarity with Datamart XML extract formats and MX-Press document generation
3. MxML Exchange & Interface Development
- Hands-on experience configuring MxML workflows for trades, static data, and events
- Expertise in message transformation, schema mapping, enrichment, and routing
- Proven track record building batch and real-time interfaces using MxML standards
- Knowledge of Murex batch processing, environment parameters, and database tuning
- Shell scripting expertise for automation and environment upkeep
- Familiarity with SOA-based (service-oriented) Murex deployments
5. DevOps & Automation
- Experience setting up CI / CD pipelines for Murex (build, deployment, rollback)
- Use of MxTest for regression and functional test automation
- Familiarity with Git, job schedulers, and system monitoring tools
6. Development & Scripting
- Solid Java development experience in Murex-related customization
- Experience creating and maintaining tooling and scripts to support workflows
- Fluent English required; German is a strong plus
- Ability to communicate effectively across technical and business teams
- Strong documentation and presentation skills
- Start Date : Immediate / Negotiable
- Duration : Freelance contract (long-term engagement possible)
- Location : Remote or Hybrid (depending on client preference)
- Engagement : Full-time or part-time (minimum 3 days / week preferred)
