Mould Design Engineer (3D CAD) – Container Glass Industry (m/f/d)

Job Description

The Mould Designer is responsible for creating fully detailed 3D models (digital twins) of mould gear using a 3D CAD system. This role ensures the design of high-precision mould equipment for container glass manufacturing, aligning with customer specifications, manufacturing feasibility, and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop fully detailed 3D models (digital twins) of mould gear components (baffles, blanks, moulds, neck rings, guide plates, etc.)
• Generate 2D technical drawings and specifications for manufacturing and quality control
• Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet operational requirements
• Interpret customer specifications, glass container drawings, and technical requirements to develop accurate mould designs
• Maintain a digital database of mould designs, ensuring proper version control and documentation
• Assist in the development and standardization of mould design processes and best practices
• Work with suppliers to ensure design compatibility with machining, casting, and finishing processes

Requirements

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., Siemens NX, SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, or similar).
• Experience in parametric modelling and digital twin development
• Understanding of mould design principles, glass container manufacturing, and IS (Individual Section) machine operations
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, casting, and finishing
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and technical specifications
• Familiarity with material properties relevant to mould manufacturing (e.g., cast iron, bronze, stainless steel)
• Experience with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems for design control

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field
• Ideally 3-5 years of experience in 3D mould design within the container glass industry or a related manufacturing sector
• Experience in a high-precision manufacturing environment is a plus
