Duties

• Employee receives instructions from the supervisor or dispatcher as to the type of vehicle to be operated, destination, purpose, deadline, and work to be done.
• Operates a motor coach to transport large groups of people on trips where day and night driving are involved.
• Operates truck tractors with semi and full trailers or straight in-line trucks typically having a gross vehicle weight of more than 32,000 pounds on in all types of traffic conditions.
• Knowledge of height, weight, width, and length of vehicle in order to judge overhead and side clearances, turning radius and braking distance
• The operator receives instructions from the supervisor or dispatcher as to the type of vehicle to be operated, destination, purpose, deadline, and work to be done.

Requirements

• Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
• Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
• A one-year probationary period may be required.
• Possesses satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, 2-13, to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
• This position may require a health screening. Immunizations may be required as a condition of employment for the health and safety of those in the facility.
• Moderate physical effort is required in handling objects weighing up to 40 pounds, and occasionally heavier objects with the assistance of others or weight handling equipment.
• Drives outside in all kinds of weather in all types of traffic at highway speeds over complicated road and interchange systems
• Exposed to dirt and fumes, and the possibility of cuts, bruises, and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving or from falling objects when loading and unloading the vehicle.
• Subject to a random drug test that occurs without suspicion that a particular individual is using illegal drugs
• Required to possess/maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)

1. Experience and training that equip the applicant with knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the duties of this position consistent with accepted practices of the trade.
2. Ability to use and maintain appropriate tools, equipment and applicable vehicles based on gross weight (32,000 pounds)
3. Ability to read, understand, and apply instruction and other materials related to the job. Ability to do the work of the position under normal supervision
4. Required to possess/maintain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
