Responsibilities
  • Developing mathematical models for various applications, including:
    • Single-Mode Fibers for short-reach and long-haul transmission (SMF, NZ-DSF, DSF, DCF)
    • Multimode Fibers (OM3, OM4, OM5) for data communication
    • Few-Mode and Multicore Fibers for Space Division Multiplexing
    • Fiber lasers and amplifiers based on rare-earth doped fibers and Raman amplification
    • Distributed sensing (OTDR, phase-sensitive OTDR, OFDR)

Model prototyping, testing, documentation, and creating application examples. Contributing to externally funded R&D projects and publications.

Skills & Experience
  • Knowledge in fiber optics theory: dispersion, nonlinear effects, scattering, mode theory, and emission processes.
  • Mathematical methods: linear algebra, calculus, differential equations, statistics, and group theory.
  • Numerical methods for optical signal propagation, including Fourier-Domain and Time-Domain Split-Step Methods.
  • Understanding of photonics, fiber technology, and optical communications.
  • Master's or Ph.D. in physics or electrical engineering.
  • Experience with mathematical modeling in Python (NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, Matplotlib).
  • Strong English communication skills.

The candidate should be willing to work in our software development facilities in Lithuania, Poland, or Latvia, be self-motivated, and able to work both remotely and in-office. A valid EU residence and work permit are required.
