Join an engaging NATO Model Event at the Hertie School, where aspiring diplomats simulate critical discussions among NATO member states. This immersive experience allows participants to build consensus, receive expert feedback, and connect with NATO representatives in a relaxed atmosphere. Scheduled for March 15, 2025, this unique opportunity fosters dialogue and understanding between NATO and future leaders. Students in their first and second years are encouraged to participate, making this an exciting chance to enhance diplomatic skills and network with peers and professionals alike.
The NATO Model Event, conducted by NATO's Allied Command Transformation (ACT), is an immersive simulation hosted at the Hertie School's Centre for International Security. During this event, selected students roleplay as Permanent Representatives of NATO member states and engage in a simulated North Atlantic Council session. Guided by representatives from Allied Command Transformation, students discuss and negotiate on critical security issues facing NATO, ranging from regional challenges to the organization's global posture.
This initiative offers a unique insight into the inner workings of NATO and serves as a platform for aspiring diplomats to hone their skills. Participants will have the opportunity to:
The event is part of a collaboration between the Centre for International Security's mentoring program and Allied Command Transformation's Academic Outreach program, aimed at fostering dialogue and understanding between NATO and future leaders.
The NATO Model Event will take place on March 15, 2025.
In the week leading up to the event, a preparatory session will be held to help participants prepare.
Please note: There will be a laid-back mixer with NATO members and fellow students on the evening of Friday, March 14! Enjoy free food and drinks while mingling in a relaxed atmosphere. This is a fantastic opportunity to connect and chat with those participating in the official event on Saturday, March 15. Applicants should plan to attend; we would love to see you there!
Open to 1st and 2nd-year Hertie School students.
Only students who did not participate in last year's simulation are eligible.
Students need to be available on Saturday, March 15, 2025.
