Mechanical Process Engineer (m/f/x) Curved Graphene Purification

Skeleton Technologies is Europe’s leading manufacturer of ultracapacitors and has achieved global breakthroughs in product performance using patented graphene-based materials. We deliver high power and high energy storage solutions across industries including automotive, aerospace, industrial, and renewables sectors.

As a Synthesis Operator and the newest addition to Skeleton’s Cell Development Team, you will be part of our chemical production team in Bitterfeld-Wolfen, where we are setting up a pilot-scale production of curved graphene. You will be able to leverage your experience from previous piloting or scale-up processes, further develop your skills, and gain new ones.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Serving as the responsible engineer for various sections of the Curved Graphene production process.
  • Contributing to and leading the development of the CG purification process and equipment, including working with equipment suppliers, production systems, and work methods.
  • Ensuring quality monitoring, commissioning, and ramp-up of equipment.
  • Preparing standard operating procedures and training production staff.
  • Establishing and documenting standard material process specifications in the pilot facility and scaling the process for industrial treatment equipment.
  • Managing and optimizing the process during operation, establishing and monitoring KPIs, providing technical training, and supporting maintenance to minimize downtime.

Ideal candidates will have:

  • At least 5 years of experience with chemical process industry equipment, high-temperature processes, or active powder material treatment.
  • Experience in powder handling and production is highly preferred.
  • A degree in Chemical, Process, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of industry codes, standards, and safety practices relevant to process design.
  • A proven record in designing safety concepts, process improvements, and value engineering.
  • Knowledge of explosion safety standards (ATEX or similar) is a plus.
  • Experience with toxic chemicals like Chlorine gas and HCl is advantageous.
  • Proficient report writing skills.
  • Basic knowledge of equipment design, safe materials, and handling methods for high-temperature and flammable conditions.
  • Experience with industry software such as SolidWorks.
  • Participation in chemical plant construction projects is highly desirable.
  • Fluent English skills; German skills are highly preferred.
