Jobbeschreibung

Your mission

Building the first pilot unit at an industrial scale at Ucaneo to remove CO2 from the atmosphere.

We're seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our Berlin-based startup, focusing on optimizing our aeration unit for Direct Air Capture (DAC) systems. Operating in an agile environment, you'll be part of a 3-5 member Hardware Engineering team, responsible for stakeholder management, procurement, and simulation of both CAD & CFD designs. Collaborating closely with our hardware team, you'll execute CAD design using software and simulation tools to ensure optimal product design and aerodynamic performance. You'll also define mechanical test rigs, validate concepts through prototype fabrication, and manage procurement requirements with meticulous attention to detail and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the CAD Design of our products together with our Hardware team.
  • Conducting mechanical engineering calculations to support HVAC system designs, including heat load calculations, duct sizing, chilled water hydraulics, static pressure calculations, and equipment selection.
  • Utilise CFD simulations to analyse and optimise the aerodynamic performance.
  • Validate your concepts by constructing prototypes utilising a diverse array of fabrication techniques, including 3D printing, welding, CNC machining, and manual assembly.
  • Writing assembly manuals, preparing Bill of Materials (BOM), and ensuring delivery of all components as per the project schedule.
  • Knowledge of materials (plastics, metals, composites), associated manufacturing processes including industry standards and regulations.
Your profile

Skills and experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • CNC Machining experience in programming and operation is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on developing and scaling up manufacturing equipment or processes.
  • Experience using CAD software such as Onshape, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing, developing, and scaling up mechanical design projects from concept to implementation.
  • Proven track record with rapid prototyping techniques including definition and setup of mechanical test rigs to verify components and subsystems.
  • Experience/Industry knowledge with HVAC industrial and central cooling systems including practical understanding of airflow.
  • Fast learning and quick to grasp complex topics.
  • A team player with a hands-on mentality.
  • Authentic and reflective self.
  • Self-Organizer and structured workstyle to keep focus and get things done.
  • Good listener and effective communicator in cross-sectional team.
  • Curious and open-minded.
Other
  • Valid Work Permit for Germany, or able to obtain a permit.
  • Location: Exciting industrial Co-Working Space in Mazahn where we have our own industrial halls to build.
