Jobbeschreibung

About xolo

We are xolo—a Berlin-based deep-science start-up on a mission to transform manufacturing with Xolography. Our technology enables customers and partners to create exceptional parts and products in markets formerly untouched by traditional 3D printing.

We’re not just building printers—we are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with spatial printing. No layers —just smooth surfaces, lightning-fast production, and a whole new spectrum of materials.

At xolo, we value intellectual rigor, ownership mentality, openness and honesty, speed over perfection, and joy in work. We have already taken Xolography from a bold idea to a real product, with top-tier partners and customers in R&D. Now, we are looking for passionate people to join us as we scale up and take things to the next level.

Tasks
  • Drive the development required for making volumetric 3D-printing a reality
  • Assemble, set up, and refine both prototype hardware systems and existing commercially available xolography machines – turning experimental concepts into functioning devices and adapting proven systems for new purposes
  • Modify, integrate, and align existing opto-mechanical components (LED and laser-based projection systems), and optimize their performance
  • Build and iterate multiple hardware setups, improving mechanical, optical, and electronic subsystems toward a production-ready version
  • Translate abstract technical ideas into hands-on setups, using practical skills in mechanical assembly, wiring, alignment, and debugging
  • Collaborate closely with suppliers, researchers, and partners to integrate off-the-shelf components and custom parts into robust systems
Requirements
  • You have a truly entrepreneurial mindset and will work full-time (40h/week) in Berlin as (Mechanical) Engineer.
  • Education/experience in a technical field, such as mechanical engineering, mechatronics or optical engineering
  • Able to fluently work with mechanical engineers, optical engineers, software developers and material scientists to build an integrated system
  • Fully self sufficient and able to go from idea to concept to design to product
  • Creative mindset and out-of-the-box thinker that enjoys experimentation and problem solving

What can be an advantage

  • Worked with one of the industry leaders in 3D printing
  • Practical experience with lightsheets
  • Experience in CAD design
  • In-depth knowledge of optics and laser technologies
  • Good sense of humor
Benefits

If you have a strong desire to really move the needle, come and join us at a time, when the single individual can have a great impact for the overall outcome of the endeavor.

  • Work with world-class scientists and entrepreneurs and their respective networks
  • Get involved in one of the very rare high flying European deep science projects

We are building something truly new, and this is your chance to be part of it. You will have a direct impact on shaping a groundbreaking technology that redefines how light is used in manufacturing. We move fast, solve hard problems, and believe that curiosity beats titles. If you thrive in a place where ideas turn into reality quickly and where your expertise truly matters, we would love to hear from you.
