Tasks
  1. Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for legged robotic systems, including chassis, sensor mounts, drivetrain mechanisms, and protective enclosures.
  2. Optimize existing designs for series production, considering all relevant constraints and inputs (product requirements, industrial design, user experience, target COGS, etc.).
  3. Create detailed 3D models and assemblies using CAD software (e.g., Fusion360 or Autodesk Inventor).
  4. Work closely with engineers to fabricate and test prototypes, ensuring mechanical designs meet performance, durability, and safety requirements.
  5. Perform stress analysis, weight optimization, and durability testing to improve performance and reliability.
  6. Collaborate with electrical and software teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
  7. Create and maintain detailed design documentation, including drawings, part specifications, and bills of materials (BOMs).
Requirements
  1. Completed degree in mechanical engineering, robotics, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  2. At least 5 years of experience working on robotics systems, mobile machinery, or similar products.
  3. Proven experience designing complex mechanical systems and solid knowledge of robot kinematics, mechanical and electrical components, and their integration into robotic systems.
  4. Strong knowledge of manufacturing techniques to ensure manufacturability for mid and high volume production.
  5. Experience with full product lifecycle, understanding the design process, and hands-on building and troubleshooting prototypes.
  6. Experience with CAD programs (particularly Autodesk Fusion / Eagle).
  7. Proven experience working with suppliers and designing hardware for manufacturing.
