Overview

My client is seeking a technically sharp, self-motivated professional to support high-impact machinery and automation system development projects across Germany.

You'll be contributing to the design and development of automated industrial equipment used in the renewables sector, helping bring innovative, efficient, and scalable solutions to life.

Role: Mechanical Design Engineer (Automation Focus)

Duration: 6–9 months

Industry: Machinery Manufacturing | Industrial Automation | Renewables

Rate: Negotiable (€ per hour)

Location: Hybrid | Rostock, Germany

Responsibilities
  • Design and revise 3D CAD models and 2D technical drawings for automated machinery and systems.
  • Perform tolerance analyses, DFM/DFA reviews, and basic FEA/stress calculations.
  • Prepare BOMs, assembly instructions, and detailed technical documentation.
  • Work closely with controls engineers, suppliers, and external fabricators to integrate mechanical systems with automation components (e.g., actuators, sensors, conveyors).
  • Support design reviews, implement feedback, and assist in the prototyping and testing of automated solutions.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical design for automation systems, industrial machinery, or production equipment.
  • Strong CAD skills (SolidWorks / Inventor / Siemens NX / CATIA / Creo).
  • Understanding of automation components (pneumatics, servos, linear actuators) and integration considerations.
  • Ability to design for motion control, modularity, and maintainability.
  • Ideally fluent in both German and English.
