Jobbeschreibung

At the Institute of Data Science in Jena, we are working on making the data backbone a reality for all DLR application areas (aeronautics, space, energy, transport, security). To this end, we develop and research methods in interdisciplinary work focusing on applications such as sustainable and circular processes, resilient supply chains, data-driven value chains, or robust decision support. The methods developed are applied in cooperation with other DLR institutes and external partners, either as part of joint projects or technology transfer activities.

What To Expect

The research and development work of the Data Analysis and Intelligence department aims to generate knowledge from data and develop a deeper understanding of complex data sets and processes. We develop data-driven approaches to gain insights and make informed decisions—"Knowledge from Data".

In the "Causal Inference" working group, our goal is to contribute to a data-driven understanding of complex dynamic processes. We develop and apply methods and software from causal inference and statistical learning, with a focus on time series data. Additionally, we develop algorithms from quantum machine learning.

Your Tasks
  • Familiarize with the research fields of quantum machine learning and causal inference
  • Develop hybrid quantum-classical algorithms for anomaly detection with causal inference
  • Implement algorithms as software with documentation
  • Evaluate and apply algorithms to data
  • Collaborate with internal and external project participants
  • Publish scientific papers in journals or at prestigious conferences with peer-review processes
  • Present projects and work results at conferences, workshops, trade fairs, etc.
Your Profile
  • Completed scientific university degree (Master's or diploma) in mathematics, physics, statistics, computer science, or a related field
  • Experience in independent processing of complex research tasks
  • Expertise in quantum machine learning, causal inference, machine learning, or statistical methods
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills
  • Good programming skills in Python
  • Proven publication record in scientific journals or conferences with peer review
  • Willingness to undergo security clearance as per German Security Clearance Act (SÜG)

We look forward to getting to know you! If you have questions about this position (Vacancy-ID 1215), please contact Andreas Gerhardus at +49 3641 30960 144.
