Qualifikationen

The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) is a materials research organization in Germany. Our mission is to ensure safety in technology and chemistry. We perform research and testing in materials science, materials engineering, and chemistry to improve the safety of products and processes. At BAM, we do research that matters. Our work covers a broad array of topics in energy, infrastructure, environment, materials, and chemistry and process engineering.

We are looking for talented people to join us. To strengthen our team in division 6.4 “Material informatics” in Berlin-Steglitz, starting 01.07.2025, we are seeking a Research assistant (m/f/d) in natural or material sciences, computer science, industrial engineering, media sciences, or a related subject. Salary group 13TVöD. The position is a temporary contract until 30.09.2028, full-time or suitable for part-time employment.

Your Responsibilities Include

The MaterialDigital (PMD) platform supports industry and science in the digitalization of materials. The aim is to establish a digital infrastructure for innovative projects and an integrated virtual material data room. The position is at the interface of interoperable software solutions and modern materials research. Your tasks include:

  • Participation in the further development of the BMFTR-funded MaterialDigital (PMD) platform, especially in knowledge transfer, networking, and public relations
  • Development of innovative digital concepts and creation of target group-oriented information materials
  • Co-development of scalable strategies and communication processes to specifically address and involve the community
  • Expansion and further development of sustainable knowledge transfer structures and knowledge documentation systems
  • Support in networking and establishing cooperation with stakeholders from materials science, materials engineering, and industry
Your Qualifications
  • Completed scientific university degree (diploma/master's) in natural or material sciences, computer science, industrial engineering, media sciences, or a related field
  • Experience in scientific and project work, ideally in materials science
  • Interest in knowledge transfer with practical experience in this area
  • Knowledge of research coordination and science management
  • Basic knowledge of research data management is desirable
  • Experience in scientific networking, public relations, and communication at the science-policy-industry interface is an advantage
  • Excellent, precise, and target-oriented communication skills in German or English, with basic willingness to travel
  • Good teamwork, initiative, commitment, and a structured work approach
