Material Compliance Expert (m/w/d), Ludwigsstadt

This role is part of Novanta’s World of Medicine (WOM) business unit, focused on Minimally Invasive Medicine. We develop devices and accessories that enable surgeries through small cuts, including Cameras, Insufflators, Medical Pumps, and tubing, making diagnosis and treatment easier. Our products facilitate less invasive procedures through innovative solutions developed in collaboration with customers, doctors, and technical experts.

Position Overview

This position ensures material compliance of purchased goods and services in the medical device industry.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Ensure raw materials are designed and manufactured in accordance with Medical Device Regulation (MDR)
  • Identify potential risks related to materials, such as toxicity and biological interactions
  • Maintain up-to-date technical documentation on materials and compliance
  • Communicate directly with suppliers for material compliance statements and develop strategies if communication is insufficient
  • Implement and maintain software to ensure current material compliance
  • Conduct risk and impact assessments of materials at BOM level
  • Develop training for employees on material compliance policies and processes
  • Create reports to monitor material compliance status internally and externally
  • Ensure strict adherence to quality, safety, and environmental regulations, and follow instructions from relevant management roles
Required Experience and Skills
  • +3 years in Supply Chain, Material Compliance, or Materials Engineering
  • Analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
  • Degree in environmental protection, engineering, chemistry, business management, or related field
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate across organizational levels
  • Open-minded, innovative, and willing to challenge the status quo
  • Conflict mitigation and engagement skills
  • Good understanding of ERP systems (SAP S4/Hana, Oracle)
  • Experience in multinational industrial organizations
  • Fluent in English and German; additional European languages are advantageous
  • Driving license required
