Job Description

At Fraunhofer IPT in Aachen, we work with over 530 employees daily to make the production of the future more digital, flexible, and sustainable. In the department of Precision Engineering and Automation, we focus on how surface topographies influence the differentiation of stem cells.

As part of your thesis, you will work on isolating and cultivating primary skin cells from eyelid tissue to create a 3D skin model. This model will be used as an in vitro testing system.

Your tasks will primarily be carried out on-site in our biological laboratory.

What You Will Do
  • Isolate and cultivate stem cells from skin biopsies
  • Investigate the influence of biomaterials on stem cell adhesion
  • Examine the effect of peptide sequences on promoting adhesion
What You Bring
  • Studying biology, biotechnology, biomedical engineering, or a related field
  • Initial experience with sterile working techniques and cell cultivation
  • Experience with common cell characterization methods (e.g., PCR, FACS, IF)
  • Basic knowledge of physical characterization of biomaterials is advantageous
  • Independent working style and enthusiasm for interdisciplinary teamwork
  • Good language skills in German and/or English
