Islanding detection refers to methods used to identify when a portion of the electrical grid becomes disconnected from the main grid and is powered solely by local generators.

  • During your thesis, you will identify and analyze state-of-the-art islanding detection methods in terms of strengths and weaknesses.
  • For identification, you will carry out literature research and gather company internal know-how. Furthermore, simulations in Matlab Simulink may assist the analysis.
  • As an outcome of the thesis, you will suggest a preferred islanding detection method suitable for vehicle-to-grid applications.
  • Education: Master studies in the field of Electrical Engineering or comparable
  • Experience and Knowledge: in electronics, electrical circuits
  • Personality and Working Practice: you excel at working independently, approaching new ideas with an open mind, and engaging sociably with others
  • Languages: fluent in German and/or English

Start: September 2025
Duration: 6 months

Requirement for this thesis is the enrollment at university. Please attach your CV, transcript of records, examination regulations, and if indicated, a valid work and residence permit.
