Master Thesis in the Field of Embedded Real-Time Software Development in Avionics

Start: as soon as possible
Duration: 6 months

Airbus Defence and Space develops embedded real-time software for military aircraft, covering areas such as:

• Handling non-deterministic multi-core hardware
• Hypervisors and real-time operating systems with partitioning
• Middleware configuration for distributed computing
• Applications in virtual machines and containers for portability
• Assessment and improvement of development processes with standards and agile methods
• Tools and methods to increase development efficiency, including coding assistance
• Network communication mechanisms for distributed platforms
• Cyber-security enhancements to match increasing connectivity
• Reducing operator workload through AI technologies

The thesis will focus on one of these domains, investigating it in depth based on your competence and project needs. Supervision will be provided by our Avionics Real-Time Software department.

Your tasks and responsibilities include:

• Conducting literature studies to identify research gaps and promising approaches
• Designing and implementing solutions, testing, and data collection
• Validating and verifying your work with team members and external partners

Desired skills and qualifications:

• Enrolled in a Master’s program in computer science, electrical engineering, physics, mathematics, mechanical engineering, or related fields
• Fluent English skills are mandatory
• German language skills are an asset
