Minimum Qualifications:
Degree: Licensure as a Massage Therapist. National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent with additional training or education in medical massage therapy; supplemented with one (1) year of related experience in an accredited health care hospital which results in familiarity with and knowledge of hospital or clinic routines. Completed a National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (MCBTMB) approved program.
Certification: Obtain a certification in Basic Life Support by the American Heart Association and/or the Red Cross approved training program prior to contract start date. Must be a Licensed Massage Therapist.
Experience: Provide documentation and references showing at least 1 year of experience in a clinical setting within the last 3 years. Advanced training and experience that allows them to provide care focused on healing injuries, improving function, or increasing circulation.
Required Skills/Abilities
Confers with clients about their medical histories and problems with stress or pain to determine how medical massage will be most helpful.
Participates in telemedicine didactic teaching sessions and interdisciplinary case presentations in order to provide remote support to remote military medical facilities.
Assesses clients' soft tissue condition, joint quality and function, muscle strength, and range of motion.
Proposes and executes treatment plans that specify which types of medical massage are used.
Massages and kneads muscles and soft tissues of the body to provide treatment for medical conditions, injuries, or wellness maintenance by:
Conducts in-services for teaching other therapists including PTs and demonstrating techniques.
