Jobbeschreibung

The Opportunity

As a Market Curation Editor for Sports, you'll support the Product Data Operations team supporting a new social-predictions app moving through a beta launch. An automated pipeline drafts candidate prediction markets every night; you are the human judgment layer on top of it — deciding which go live, sharpening the ones that are nearly right, and catching the markets the pipeline missed entirely. This role calls for deep, current expertise in professional and collegiate sport and in the rule conventions that govern how results are officially determined.

What You’ll Do
  • Review a daily queue of system-generated sports markets against a fixed completion deadline, working event by event across every market a fixture generates.
  • Assess each candidate market for factual accuracy, clarity, and whether the resolution criteria can actually be adjudicated against a named authoritative source and a defined settlement date.
  • Verify that open and close timing is correct for the underlying event, including scheduled and unscheduled delays.
  • Apply the correct settlement convention for the league in question – overtime, shootouts, postponement and abandonment, minimum-play thresholds on player props, and official statistical corrections.
  • Confirm policy fit against community standards and content guidelines, escalating anything ambiguous or sensitive rather than making an unsupported call.
  • Approve, edit, or reject each candidate, recording a structured reason every time – this record is a product deliverable, not admin.
  • Rewrite questions and resolution language for precision, and for how fans actually talk about the event.
  • Author timestamped clarifications when ambiguity emerges in a live market, and resolve settlement exceptions the data feed can’t handle.
  • Run proactive gap scans – monitor live markets for visible errors, and track schedules, team news, and social platforms for events the pipeline didn’t capture.
  • Participate in weekly calibration reviews to stay consistent with published guidelines and fellow curators.
What We’re Looking For
  • 3+ years in sports trading, sports data operations, sports journalism or editorial, or a comparable role requiring current subject‑matter expertise.
  • Demonstrable current fluency in sport – following it now, not historically – across professional and collegiate leagues in major sports.
  • Fluency with sports culture and sports social media (trades, free agency, breaking news accounts).
  • Working knowledge of official rule and settlement conventions for major leagues, and of which sources are authoritative for results and statistics.
  • Proven judgment on edge cases: suspended and abandoned events, statistical corrections, contested outcomes, ambiguous official rulings.
  • Ability to interpret official sources quickly and reach a defensible determination.
  • Exceptional written precision under deadline – able to write unambiguous rules that hold up after the outcome is known.
  • Comfort applying a written policy framework, with the instinct to elevate rather than guess.
  • Flexible availability for evening, overnight, and weekend work as needed around live events.
Nice to Have
  • Experience trading on, or working with, prediction markets, sportsbooks, exchanges, or DFS platforms.
  • Prior work on a trading desk, or standing as a super-user of prediction apps.
  • Sports journalism background and/or experience contributing to guidelines, style guides, rulebooks, or annotation standards.
  • Familiarity with content policy, moderation frameworks, or editorial standards.
How We’ll Measure Success
  • Consistent completion of the daily queue against the hard deadline.
  • Decision quality – agreement with peers and the lead on calibration samples, and a low rate of published markets requiring void, amendment, or resettlement.
  • Reason quality – structured rejection reasons that are specific and correctly categorized.
  • Rewrite quality – published questions that survive contact with the outcome without dispute.
  • Proactive contribution – relevant events and markets you surface that the pipeline didn’t generate.

As a contractor you'll supply a securecomputer and high‑speed internet; company-sponsored benefits such as health insurance and PTO do not apply.
