What you will be doing
Within NBI, the Market and Business Development Manager is responsible for the analysis and reporting of market and technology information for the different application segments of Umicore’s Catalysis businesses, with a focus on the new markets within Umicore’s strategic scope. Attention goes to both commercial and technological trends, innovations, and shifts in the supply chains. This involves creating and co-executing sales strategies with BUs, managing client accounts, and driving partnerships along with product qualification.

More detailed responsibilities:

1. Market Analysis: You are responsible for analyzing market trends, identifying potential opportunities, and benchmarking and understanding the competitive landscape. This helps in developing strategies to position the company’s products effectively.
2. With the accumulated technological understanding, you support the relevant teams of Umicore stakeholders in their technology road-mapping exercises.
3. You are responsible for monitoring one (or more) ecosystems, identifying new actors, technologies, and trends to follow. As such, you maintain a close view on emerging markets, disruptive technologies, and business models, start-up activity, and new alliances.
4. In collaboration with colleagues from the BUs/CRD, you contribute to the overall view of the technology trends along the value chain from raw materials to end-user.
5. Business Development: This involves creating and co-executing go-to-market strategies with BUs, managing client accounts, and driving partnerships along with product qualification.

Who we are looking for

An enthusiastic colleague with:

1. A master’s degree either in Science or Business with a minimum of 6 years of experience or a PhD with 2-3 years’ experience in consulting or a B2B market research environment.
2. Genuine interest in advanced technologies, sustainability, and innovation.
3. Data cruncher, computer literate with excellent knowledge of Microsoft (and associated) tools.
4. Multilingual (English, and a minimum of one other local language).
5. Strongly developed logic and critical thinker.
6. Ability to maintain the big picture while being focused on details.
7. Ability to understand and challenge market and economic concepts.
8. Ability to track business and technology opportunities.
9. Good communication and negotiation skills (horizontal, vertical, and external/oral and written).
10. Good networking skills, able to proactively build and maintain partnerships inside and outside the company.
