Job Description: Marine Superintendents (MSO)

The success of our client, one of the world's leading container shipping companies, is built on professionalism, reliability, and first-class personnel and equipment.

On behalf of our client, a top-tier Container Line Operator worldwide, we are looking for Marine Superintendents (MSOs). As an MSO, you will be responsible for ensuring that your assigned fleet of vessels complies with the Integrated Management System (IMS) and all relevant international rules and regulations. You will perform your duties in accordance with the company’s quality, health, safety, environmental, and ethics policies. Additionally, you will monitor vessels’ continuous performance improvement plans and ensure timely submission of periodic reports.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure the implementation of the Integrated Management System and the Ship Security Plan.
  2. Promote effective communication between ashore departments and ship crews.
  3. Ensure the seaworthiness of assigned vessels (properly manned, maintained, and equipped).
  4. Manage and follow-up on ISM, ISPS, MLC, ISO, and flag audits.
  5. Handle QSSE audits or inquiries onboard your assigned vessels.
  6. Monitor corrective and preventive actions.
  7. Conduct accident investigations.
  8. Perform regular vessel inspections and port visits in accordance with the company’s KPIs.
  9. Conduct training sessions for shore staff and ship crews as required.
  10. Serve as the contact point for flag administrations and support the Fleet department with classification societies (RO).
  11. Participate in the Emergency Response Team when necessary.
Qualifications and Experience:
  1. Sailing experience as Master Mariners on merchant ships, preferably container vessels.
  2. Training in ISM and ISO internal audits, CSO, and accident investigations.
  3. Knowledge of QHSE management.
  4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  5. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  6. Physical ability to perform onboard audits and willingness to travel for ship visits and inspections regularly.
