Job summary

Teledyne ChartWorld seeks a data engineer to create and run data processing pipelines for ENC data, aligning with IHO specifications (S-57/S-100). You will work with FME, QGIS, and Python to transform and release digital chart data, coordinating with RENC and customer services.

Office presence in Hamburg is expected; strong English communication is essential, and familiarity with SevenCs tools is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level or higher in CS, Geodesy, Geography, or Hydrography.
• Experience with geospatial processing platforms like FME and QGIS is essential.
• Strong Python programming skills are required.
• Familiarity with ENC structures and IHO standards (S-57, S-63, S-100) is important.
• Good spoken and written English is required.

Responsibilities

• Create and optimize data engineering workflows for ENC data processing.
• Ensure timely data release to data providers and stakeholders.
• Develop and transform GIS data using Python, SQL, and FME/QGIS.
• Communicate data issues and release status with RENC and customer services.
• Support cross-functional teams with technical data and publications.

Job description

• Create, modify, and execute data engineering processes for conversion and use of digital sources and related products (focus on data that is based on IHO product specifications S-57 and S-100)
• Responsible for digital data processing on ENC Servers, BOs and timeliness of data release.
• Use data engineering technologies such as FME, QGIS, Python, SQL, and others to transform and integrate data or build products.
• Report of conversion issues, errors, and inability to release data to all relevant data providers and archive the results.
• Process of test scenarios to ensure integrity and consistency of released data.
• Optimization of coverages and data product portfolios
• Communications with Regional ENC Centres (RENC) and Customer Services.
• Provide technical support to Customer Service, Sales, and Relation teams regarding e-chart data and technical publications.

What we need from you

• University degree in Computer Science, Geodesy, Geography, Hydrography, or a related discipline.
• Proven professional experience with FME, QGIS, or equivalent geospatial processing platforms.
• Advanced proficiency in Python programming.
• Knowledge of the structure of Electronic Navigational Charts (ENC) and IHO standards, including S-57, S-63, S-100
• Good speaking and writing skills in English.
• Desirable Qualifications
• Knowledge of vector nautical chart production environments.
