Dedrone is growing and responding to the increasing demand. With this, we are transitioning from small-scale manufacturing to higher volume manufacturing, facilitating excellence in efficiency and quality. The role of the Manufacturing Engineer is pivotal to drive a smooth and far-reaching transition.

Location: Kassel, Germany

Reporting to: Dr. Gerd Fehlauer, Senior Director of Operations

What You’ll Do

  1. Drive the completeness of product assembly instructions in collaboration with the R&D team.
  2. Structure the production flow to achieve high product flexibility for a 4x output capability over the next 12 months.
  3. Implement lean principles and WIP reduction through optimized layout, flow, and planning.
  4. Develop, implement, and maintain equipment and tooling to enable manufacturing, such as customized jigs, electrical screwdrivers, and potentially small automation and robotics.
  5. Collaborate closely with the production team, R&D, and QA to respond effectively to manufacturing challenges and quality issues.
  6. Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and align with Axon manufacturing standards to support a harmonized approach.
  7. Report to senior management at the Kassel location and maintain close interaction with peer Manufacturing Engineers at Axon.
  8. Share knowledge and promote concepts of Lean, 5S, and Six Sigma to guide progress.

What You Bring

  • Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Black Belt certification, Lean, or equivalent working experience.
  • Experience in structural improvements of the manufacturing flow in a medium-volume (thousands per year) electrical units assembly setup, with a proven record of implementing production and intralogistics processes, definitions, and documentation.
  • Experience with production setup, performance assessment matrices, and evaluating potential solutions.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Ability to clearly explain the pros and cons of changes and their potential benefits.
