Job Description

This position is a fixed-term position for 2 years.

Primary Function of Position:

Join our dynamic development team and apply your technical manufacturing and design expertise to create precision endoscopic instruments for minimally invasive robotic surgery. This role focuses on developing and implementing processes to meet manufacturing goals for the endoscope product line, while ensuring product safety, reliability, and performance. As an NPI manufacturing engineer, you'll effectively utilize business processes to implement changes, identify and develop process improvements for existing products, and support design enhancements with product engineering. Demonstrating strong hands-on capabilities and a broad technical understanding is essential.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Enhance and maintain efficient 'mid to high volume' manufacturing assembly processes by identifying and introducing new innovations.
  • Document, qualify, and implement manufacturing fixtures and equipment.
  • Ensure process stability through tests like DOE's and validations.
  • Collaborate with design engineering to define key design features that optimise manufacturability.
  • Establish critical inspection and test checkpoints.
  • Develop robust assembly processes from prototype to serial production, focusing on improvements in yield, cycle time, reliability, and cost reduction.
  • Support changes with measurement series to ensure quality.
  • Troubleshoot non-conformances, conduct root cause analyses, and implement preventive and corrective actions in collaboration with operations, industrial engineering, and design engineering.
  • Ensure compliance with current QMS, DOPs, SOPs, and safety regulations.
Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • BE/BS required, ME/MS preferred in Mechanical, Mechatronic, Process, Electrical, Microsystems Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years as an NPI or Manufacturing engineer, preferably in medical device development.
  • At least 2 years in process development or manufacturing engineering for mid/high volume surgical products.
  • Enthusiasm for medical robotic surgery technology.
  • Great attitude, initiative, and teamwork skills.
  • Hands-on approach to manufacturing processes.
  • Strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and strong people skills.
  • Process-oriented thinking.
  • Advanced communication skills for building relationships, influencing, and negotiating.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills in German and English.
  • Ability to clearly explain assembly processes to assemblers and supervisors.
  • Knowledge in statistical analysis, process capability, validation, and design of experiments.
  • Experience with ISO9001/13485 or medical device manufacturing preferred.
  • Willingness to travel internationally (up to 10% per year).
