Managing And Transforming A Small Specialist Insurance Company As The Managing Director
Our client, a foreign property insurer, with a small operation (GmbH) in Germany is seeking a Managing Director (m/f/d) ad interim for Germany. The current Managing Director is stepping down, creating the need for a timely interim replacement. The role's primary focus will be on the sustainable development of the company's IT infrastructure, working closely with the central IT matrix organization of the international parent company. Our client is therefore looking for a Managing Director (m/f/d) ad interim with substantial insurance experiences as well as experiences in transforming the insurance processes based upon the implementation of a new IT-system.
Note: This is an interim position with a fixed-term contract, as the previous holder of the position is taking on a corporate group role within the company.
- Leadership and management team
- Leadership, management, and development of a dedicated and high-performing team capable of driving future growth and delivering high-quality services
- Oversight, control, and development of all activities in Germany, including compliance, legal, human resources, operations, IT, strategy, product development, sales, marketing, and communications
- Restructuring of the workforce, if necessary
- Management of strategic sales and marketing/communications
- Expansion of the insurance business in Germany, achievement of a balanced customer portfolio, and reduction of dependencies by increasing retail and direct sales on the Internet
- Development and innovation of the product portfolio in line with customer and market needs, and development of a plan to increase brand awareness
- Management of the profit and loss statement
- Assumption of full responsibility for the company's sales and performance in Germany
- Setting the budget in cooperation with the group finance department, monitoring performance, identifying potential gaps, and taking measures to ensure financial performance
- Managing relationships with key accounts
- Improving business and customer coverage in Germany, actively maintaining relationships, and participating in key strategic discussions with customers
- Supporting and introducing strategic sales activities, as well as monitoring quality as part of coaching and supervising the sales team
- Coordinating cooperation and strategy with headquarters
- Developing a clear corporate strategy in line with the headquarter and driving forward (system) developments
- Preparing for and participating in board meetings and reporting on strategic challenges for the German market and its progress
- Many years of experience as a managing director, preferably at an international level in the insurance, mobile communications, and/or financial services industry
- Extensive expertise in establishing and developing direct and partner businesses, as well as in successfully negotiating strategic agreements
- Expertise in legal knowledge of corporate management and the rights and obligations of managing directors in the German market (with regard to the legal form of the GmbH)
- In-depth knowledge of strategic and operational decision-making processes with a direct impact on the profit and loss statement
