We are looking for a highly motivated MAIT Engineer (f/m/d) to join our innovative In-Space Manufacturing team.

You will join the rapid growth of in-space manufactured infrastructure as the industry calls for increased power for a growing range of applications, like data processing and transmission or in-orbit transportation and servicing.

In your role, you will support the development activities of this groundbreaking technology, including the design and production of breadboards, the execution of testing and qualification activities, as well as the assembly and integration of flight hardware. Your work will directly impact the success of our space missions and enable the deployment of critical components in orbit.

Dcubed is accelerating space exploration missions with cost effective and durable space hardware, solutions and subsystems.

Our groundbreaking projects pushing the boundaries of technology and advancing space exploration have huge implications for both the company and the industry as a whole.

Tasks

  • Daily, you will be solving problems – most likely ones that no one has run into before and support the In-Space Manufacturing (ISM) team with the development of custom Mechanical Systems & Hardware
  • Design mechanical breadboards and GSEs
  • Produce engineering drawings and coordinate production of mechanical parts with external suppliers
  • Manufacture mechanical parts in-house (eg CNC milling of metal parts, FDM and SLS printing of polymers)
  • Assemble prototypes and flight hardware
  • Perform testing activitiesfrom component to system level
  • Participate in qualification campaigns and acceptance testing of flight hardware
  • Support customer during final integration of our payloads
  • Produce technical documentation and participate in reviews with external stakeholders

Here is what you bring to the table

Candidate Background:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering 2 + years experience in working with space hardware
  • Appreciation for craftsmanship and creativity in industrial/mechanical applications
  • Experience with milling and CNC machining
  • Experienced with mechanical design and GD&T (Geometric | Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
  • Demonstrated experience in working in a dynamic and rapidly-paced environment
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a team environment

Eligible to work in Germany

Nice to have requirements:

  • Familiarity with (new) spatial environment (2+ years)
  • You're likely someone who enjoys designing things on your own time, including 3D printing, welding, grinding, and machining
  • Knowledge of structural analysis tools (FEM)
  • Experienced with mechanisms for high-precision structures (RF or Optical Payloads)
