Description

The August Schell Brewing Company is seeking a Maintenance Manager to join our team in New Ulm, MN. This position will be a key member of the Schell’s Maintenance Team and contribute to the high-functioning operations necessary at the brewery.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and contribute to the day-to-day operations of the maintenance/boilerman department.
  • Develop and execute a preventative/predictive maintenance plan for the brewery
  • Plan and oversee all repair, maintenance, and installation activities
  • Maintain full responsibility for implementing and executing policies and programs to ensure effective spare parts inventory management
  • Ensure 100% completion of all spare parts cycle counts to maximize inventory accuracy
  • Monitor equipment inventory and place orders when necessary to maximize equipment runtime
  • Manage the maintenance expenses appropriately to prioritize repairs and reinvest in assets when financially appropriate
  • Continuously strive to reduce ordering expenses by optimizing shipments, negotiating prices with vendors, and implementing projects according to their allocated budgets
  • Maintain responsibility for management of all maintenance staff, including scheduling of work of Maintenance and Boilermen staff, managing time off, training, coaching, performance management, and progressive discipline with the guidance of HR.
  • Maintain strong communication with our production, quality, and logistics teams to ensure any necessary information and planning is being communicated effectively to the other departments.
  • Identify and implement energy and cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Assist with capital investments and implementations.
  • Assess building, equipment, and systems in place to plan work assignments and project schedules.
  • Assist with departmental budget estimates and costs of specific repairs or replacement projects.
  • Ensure routine maintenance and repair work is completed correctly and in a timely manner to reduce production downtime.
  • Other duties and projects assigned.

  • Highly capable of multi-tasking and problem solving in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills
  • Team players thrive on collaboration, but is also independent in work duties
  • Excellent work ethic and sense of accountability
  • Occasionally you may have to lift or move up to 75 pounds

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma
  • Foundational understanding of operating a Maintenance Team in a manufacturing process
  • Previous experience with electrical, PLCs, HMI’s, Air Compressors, and Boilers

Preferred Skills

  • Technical degree in a related field
  • 3-5 years of Maintenance leadership experience
  • CRL (Certified Reliability Leader) graduate is a bonus
  • Professional leadership training is a bonus
